One Year Reading Challenge

In 2015, I want to diversify my reading portfolio. I'm a writer and writers read; for inspiration, motivation and to keep an eye on the competition.

For the last few years, my reading list has consisted of only African American Christian fiction and Christian living non-fiction leaving me with a limited scope of the world. I felt like I was being closed-minded and limiting in my world view.

I looked for book clubs that would help me broaden my horizons but had little success. So you can understand my excitement when I ran across this writing challenge; 52 books in 52 weeks. Yeah, that won't happen. My goal is to read 26 books this year and I will share my experience and reactions to the books with my readers on this blog.

  1. This is awesome! I actually hadn't seen this particular reading challenge before. I do a reading challenge every year, but it's mostly just me picking a number of books I want to read. This year my goal is 45 books, with 10 of those being 375+ pages and 7 of those being by Hispanic/Latino authors. I'll definitely keep this challenge in mind for the future, though I don't know that I'd be able to do it all in one year.

  2. Mandy, thank you for your feedback! I'm very excited about the challenge and the facebook group I'm apart of is a great motivator. With 23 days in, some people are already on their 4th, 5th book!
